Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million more than 2000 individuals and businesses turned off their lights for one hour to combat climate change. A year later, Earth Hour has become a global sustainable action with over 50 million people in 35 countries participating. The famous locations such as Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and Colossume arena in Rome, has the same power off as symbols of hope for a more immediate problem in a hours.
March 2009, hundreds of millions of people have joined the Earth Hour event was the 3rd. More than 4,000 cities in 88 countries officially turned off the lights to show their support for this planet, which makes Earth Hour 2009 to become the largest global initiative on world climate change.
Earth Hour is held by WWF. With almost 5 million supporters and a network of over 100 nations, WWF is the largest independent and most respected conservation organization in the world . The mission of WWF is to stop the degradation of natural environments on Earth and build a future where humans live in harmony with nature.
